My New Favorite!!

This may possibly be my new favorite quilt!!  I love how all the scraps blend together....it looks like something you might find at Grandmas house.  Once it is quilted and washed and gets that worn and loved look it will be even better!!
Still trying to decide on  a border.  I have pictured two options, but really not sure I like either of them yet.....hmmmm!

One Border Choice - not really my favorite!!

The Couthouse Steps Quilt

Another border option, still not sure I like it, but its better than the other one!!

This quilt has 174 - 5" finished blocks in it and over 2900 pieces.  I know this because my kids were curious!

Now back to the pieced borders on my RRCB!

Slimming the Stash

While setting up a new shelf in my sewing room, I came across a few unfinished treasures.  Throughout the year I would like to try to finish as many of these as possible.  Yesterday I managed to find a few uninterrupted hours and finish this quilt.  It is called "Nine Patch Scrappy" by Karen Witt.  I used the Colonies Reserve Collection by Nancy Gere.  Its actually the fabric that was used in the original pattern as well.  Love those reproduction fabrics!!

I had most of the blocks done, a row already together and all the pieces for the remaining blocks cut!!  Gotta love it when everything is cut and ready to go!  I even have the binding cut for this quilt!!
Soooo now I need to learn how to quilt on my own machine!! My new machine has a bunch of feet for free motion - I guess its time to read the manual and figure out what is used for what!!  I can do the basics, but would love to learn how to meander and such.  Anyone know of any good books for beginners of machine quilting?

Progress in 2011

Well I finally have the top of the RRCB together...no borders yet though.  I don't have a pic but will post with a picture once I have the borders on!! I haven't actually taken the time to iron the seams, it will be a monumental task!!  RRCB was a lot of fun to work on, and I amazed myself for keeping up as well as I did!  I am usually not a finisher.....a starter yes!!

I have had a chance to work a little on my Wild Pomegranate Quilt.  So far I have 5 of the 16 applique blocks complete.  I truly enjoy hand applique.  I can sit and work on it for hours it seems!!

Above is a picture of 4 of the blocks in a possible layout!!  My color in the picture doesn't do it justice.  It has beautiful dusty rose backgrounds and grey sage greens with deep reds and some taupe and pinks!!

This little cutie is one if many that I received in the mail from my dear friend Heather over at Creative Confessions (http://cybercanuck.blogspot.com/).  I love them, she had them made especially for moi!!  Thanks a bunch Heather :)

Once again I have tackled the sewing room!!  I keep attempting to organize the clutter....its coming I guess!!  I managed to clean out two more bags of scraps for my niece and her friend.  They use them to make quilts to donate to shelters and hospitals.  I really don't know where these scraps keeps coming from, but they are happy I keep finding more!!

Quilting Crazy

Happy New Year!!  Happy 22nd Birthday to my beautiful daughter Chalsie and Happy 49th Birthday to my big brother!!

So it seems that the only thing I have been working on this past month is the Quiltville Mytery.  So far it is coming along great!  This Friday will be the last clue, it has been alot of fun woking away on this mystery, but I really need to get back to my many other projects!! This is my progress so far:
I am really happy with the way this is turning out!!  You just never know what your getting into with a Mystery Program!!  I think this is going to be fairly big when its done, hopefully big enough to fit a queen size bed!! I will be sure to post a pic of the finished quilt.
